Unseen Poetry: Introduction Worksheet on Poetry: 'The Mirror.'
A worksheet to introduce KS3 or KS4 students to what to initially look for when they first read a poem.
There are questions on the sheet to prompt them to read the poem and then answer the questions including:
What the poem is about
Why certain words and phrases are used
What the mood and atmosphere of the poem is
Who the narrator of the poem is.
I have purposely left out the title of the poem, as I wanted my group to guess what the object ( the mirror) is.

Cut out the five punctuation cards and place them in front of you.
On the next page, you will be given a range of phrases and sentences. Each is missing a particular punctuation mark.
Place each sentence / phrase underneath the correct punctuation card.
Example: If the sentence reads: ‘Andys car had a flat tyre,’ then this sentence should be placed under the ‘apostrophe mark’ card.
